About us

The DAWC is an elite year-round wrestling club that practices out of Boylan Catholic High School. The goal at the DAWC is to not only win state championships, but to foster a championship mentality both on and off the mat. At the DAWC we use a systematic approach to wrestling to help both beginning and experienced wrestlers master the fundamental skills of wrestling.

501(c) (3) Non-Profit Organization

The DAWC is a non-profit organization whose goal is to introduce wrestling, and high-level coaching to Rockford and its surrounding areas. We believe that the art and discipline of wrestling can have a tremendous impact on our youth. Through Inspiration, Motivation, Hard Work, and Dedication we are creating scholars and champions.

Coaches

Danny Alcocer Jr.

“Coach Danny” is a graduate of Waubonsie Valley High School in Aurora, IL. He was an IKWF State Champion for the Waubonsie Braves, and in high school was an IHSA state place winner. Danny continued wrestling in college at Arizona State University, compiling a .500 win percentage competing in 2 seasons for the Sun Devils from 2001-2002. Danny graduated from Arizona State University in 2005 with a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature.

Upon graduation Danny began teaching English in the Phoenix Union High School District, and coaching wrestling at MaryVale High School. There he coached 5 State Champions, winning 8 state championships, and a district title in 5 years. Danny stayed in Phoenix until 2010, when he returned home to be closer to family and friends. Since returning home Danny has assisted some of the best wrestling programs in the state of Illinois; IzzyStyle Wrestling, Martinez Fox Valley Elite, Rockton Hononegah Wrestling, Metea Valley Wrestling, and Boylan Catholic Wrestling. Coach Danny has been involved with the sport of wrestling, competing or coaching since the age of 7.

In 2016 Danny was approached by a group of parents and asked to establish an “elite” year-round wrestling club in the Rockford area, and with that small group of 6 kids the DAWC was formed. In 2017 the DAWC had 6 state qualifiers and has not looked back since.
